The Ford F150

The Ford F150 is not only the best-selling truck in the United States and has been for 36 years but is now the best-selling vehicle. In 2017, Ford sold 896,764 F-Series trucks. The 2020 F150 plans to continue that tradition, with the base model starting at $28,495. The least-expensive XL model is a standard cab, six cylinder, two-wheel drive version of the truck.

The F150 comes in six different trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. It is available in standard cab, extra-cab and SuperCrew configurations. Also available are the STX Sport Appearance package and the Black Appearance package. The standard engine is the 5.0 liter V8. Two different EcoBoost V6 engines and the Power Stroke turbo-diesel are optional powerplants. Properly equipped the F150 can tow more than 13,000 pounds. The standard 5.0 liter V8 accelerates the F150 from 0 to 60 MPH in 6.3 seconds. The EPA rates fuel mileage for the F150 at between 24 and 30 miles per gallon on the highway, depending on engine and configuration.

Additionally, the F150 can be ordered as the Ford Raptor, a factory-built off-road truck. The Raptor is an extremely capable off-road vehicle.

The F150 can be loaded up with luxury options to even include massaging seats, wifi and a sunroof.

The versatility of configuring the F150 to your preferences is one of the major reasons the truck is the country’s best-selling vehicle. From a basic work truck to a luxury family vehicle to a serious off-road machine – you can order the F150 to be what you want and need.

For some people the aluminum body of the F150 will be a serious downside. Aluminum is lighter and more resistant to corrosion than steel but is certainly not as strong as steel. Depending on how you plan to use the truck this could be a major issue.
